We meet on the first Thursday of every month at 6:00 PM.

What it costs

Nothing. Meetings are free and there is no membership to sign up for. Show up.

Your first time

#

You do not need to prepare anything, know anyone, or work in security. Turn up and sit down. A few things people usually want to know before a first visit:

• Do I need to introduce myself? No. You are welcome to just listen.
• Do I need a laptop? No, but it helps if you want to follow along with hands-on material.
• Am I too much of a beginner? No. A good share of the room learned this stuff at meetings like this one.
• Is it recorded? Talks may be recorded and posted to our recordings page. The audience is not filmed. If you are presenting and would rather not be recorded, just say so. That is fine.
• Age policy. There is no age restriction. Everyone is welcome.

Code of conduct

We follow the official DEF CON code of conduct.

Can I present?

Yes! We would love to have you, and we especially want to hear from first-time speakers.

What works well:

• Anything security, hardware, networking, reverse engineering, privacy, or adjacent.
• A project you built, or one that defeated you. Failure talks are good talks.
• A tool you use constantly that other people have not heard of.
• Something you learned recently. You do not need to be the world expert, only one step ahead of the room.

Practicalities:

• Slots run about an hour, including questions. Shorter is fine, just tell us what you need.
• Slides optional. A terminal and a story is a perfectly good talk.
• We can record it and post it to recordings, or not. Your call.
